THE BEST SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP

The Best Spinach Artichoke Dip image

This is our best version of the classic party dip. It's savory and creamy with a slight tang from sour cream and Parmesan -- so hard to resist. We like to use frozen whole leaf spinach and chop it ourselves for more control over the finished texture of the dish.

Categories     appetizer

Time 40m

Yield 6 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

Nonstick cooking spray
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 clove garlic, grated
One 10-ounce box frozen leaf spinach, thawed, drained, squeezed dry and coarsely chopped (see Cook's Note)
One 14-ounce can artichoke hearts, drained well and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup shredded whole-milk mozzarella
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Crackers, chips or toasted bread, for serving

Steps:

  • Position a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Spray a 1-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Put the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise and garlic in a large bowl. Mix vigorously until combined and smooth. (If you prefer, you can use a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.) Add the spinach to the cream cheese mixture, breaking it up as you add it. Add the artichokes, mozzarella and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan, mixing to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and top with the remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan.
  • Bake until the dip begins to bubble, 20 to 25 minutes. Turn the oven to broil and continue to cook, keeping an eye on it so it doesn't burn, until the top is golden brown, about 5 minutes. Serve warm with crackers, chips or toasted bread.

It’s creamy, cheesy, and flavorful, making it a perfect addition to any party or gathering. This article is not about offering the recipe for Spinach and artichoke dip, but rather, valuable tips to help you perfect the “absolutely wonderful cheesy creamy spinach artichoke dip recipe foodcom recipes”. Use Fresh Ingredients The key to making a great spinach and artichoke dip is to use fresh ingredients. Fresh spinach and fresh artichokes will make a huge difference in the overall taste of the dish. It’s also important to use fresh herbs and spices to add depth of flavor. When selecting your ingredients, look for bright, vibrant colors and a subtle aroma. Drain Artichokes Properly Artichokes are an essential ingredient in this recipe, but they need to be drained properly. If they’re not drained properly, you’ll end up with a watery, runny dip. To drain the artichokes, simply place them in a colander and rinse them under cold water. Then, press them with a paper towel to remove any excess water. This will help to ensure that your dip is thick and creamy. Use Cream Cheese To achieve a truly creamy texture, cream cheese is the perfect ingredient to use. It adds a tangy flavor and helps to thicken the dip. When using cream cheese, make sure that it’s at room temperature. This will help it to blend seamlessly with the other ingredients, resulting in a smooth and creamy dip. Mix Ingredients Thoroughly Mixing the ingredients thoroughly is key to creating a well-rounded flavor profile. This includes making sure that the cream cheese is fully incorporated with the other ingredients. Take your time when mixing and make sure that everything is evenly distributed throughout the dip. This will help to ensure that each bite is packed with flavor. Add Spices Slowly When adding spices, it’s important to do so slowly. Start with a small amount of each spice and taste as you go. This will help you to achieve the perfect balance of spices without overpowering the other flavors. Remember, it’s always easier to add more than to take away, so add slowly and taste often. Bake Slowly After mixing all the ingredients, the dip needs to be baked to perfection. To achieve this, a slow bake in the oven is best. This will help to ensure that the dip is evenly heated and that the cheese is melted and bubbly. Watch carefully as it bakes, making sure not to overcook your dip. Serve Hot For the best experience, serve your spinach and artichoke dip hot. The cheese will be melted, and the flavors will meld together perfectly. You can serve it with chips, crackers, or bread, or even use it as a topping for baked potatoes. No matter how you serve it, it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Conclusion There you have it, some valuable tips to help you perfect the “absolutely wonderful cheesy creamy spinach artichoke dip recipe foodcom recipes”. With the right ingredients, mixing techniques, and baking tips, you’ll create a dip that is sure to impress. Remember, take your time, taste as you go, and don’t be afraid to experiment with different spices and ingredients to create your own unique twist on this classic appetizer.
