MOM'S SLOPPY JOES
Just as easy as opening "one of those cans" or packet mixes, only MUCH better! (I'm sure much healthier, too.) *The sauce is also very good as a homemade bbq sauce for chicken, ribs, pork chops, etc. Thanks, Mom! Enjoy!! :D

Steps:
- In frying pan, brown ground beef til no longer pink, breaking up into very small pieces as you cook. (If you leave it in larger pieces/chunks, the meat won't all get coated as much, and won't be as good. Will also fall off the bun more easily.).
- Drain grease.
- Add rest of ingredients, stir well to mix.
- Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes or so, stirring ocaisionally.
- Serve on warmed hamburger buns.
- *If using as a bbq sauce, simmer ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring ocaisionally. Grill meat (chicken, etc.) til just done. Baste well with sauce and cook 3-5 minutes longer. Turning and basting.
- If baking instead of grilling, the bbq-style sauce can be added to the raw meat and baked the entire time at 350 degrees til done.

These are no fancy joes - nothing but lots of sloppy, zesty mess! Beef may be used instead of turkey. Perfect for potluck or game day. Serve on your favorite buns.

Sneaking vegetables into a meal has been a go-to solution for parents who have a hard time getting their kids to eat their greens. A Sneaky Moms Sloppy Joes recipe is a fantastic way to add in some veggies, without the children realizing it. There are numerous benefits to adding more vegetables to a child's diet. The vitamins and minerals found in the veggies help to strengthen the child's immune system, promote healthy growth, and support brain function. Adding more vegetables to a child's diet also helps to prevent chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity later on in life. Secondly, eating vegetables helps to improve digestion and keeps the gut healthy. The fiber found in vegetables helps to regulate bowel movements and prevent constipation. The beauty of sloppy joes is that they are effortless to make, and you can add any ingredient to give them a new twist. Below are valuable tips for moms looking to make a sneaky and delicious sloppy joe recipe.
Tip 1: Get the right meat
The type of meat you use for your sloppy joes recipe determines the flavor, texture, and health benefits. Ground beef is the most common meat used in sloppy joe's, but moms can be sneaky and add other types of meat for a unique taste. For instance, you can mix ground beef and pork, or use ground turkey or chicken for a more healthy option. Adding sausage in small pieces adds a whole new flavor and texture to the mix.
Tip 2: Add hidden vegetables
One sneaky tip for moms is to add vegetables to the sloppy joes without the kids noticing it. Vegetables add nutrients to the meal, and you do not need to cook them separately. Finely chop vegetables such as onions, carrots, bell peppers, and celery, and add them to the meat mixture. You can also turn the vegetables into a paste using a blender and mix it with the meat to create a thick sauce. Alternatively, you can use tomato paste instead of ketchup to add more nutrients and avoid the high sugar and sodium content in most ketchups.
Tip 3: Use the right seasonings
The seasonings used in a sloppy joe recipe determine the overall taste and aroma. Ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar are the common seasoning used and add a balance of flavors. However, moms can be sneaky and add other seasonings for a unique taste. Adding hot sauce or chili powder adds a spice kick, while apple cider vinegar adds tanginess. You can also add oregano, garlic powder, and paprika for a smoky flavor.
Tip 4: Adjust the texture
The texture of the sloppy joes is crucial to the overall enjoyment of the meal. You can control the texture by adjusting the thickness of the sauce, the size of the meat pieces, and the type of bread buns. To thicken your sauce, add cornstarch or flour to the mixture, and mix it well. You can choose to leave the meat pieces chunky or break them down into smaller pieces depending on your preference. A sneaky tip for moms is to use cheese slices in between the bun and the meat, which adds a creamy texture and flavor to the meal.
Tip 5: Add toppings
Adding toppings to the sloppy joes adds a burst of flavor and elevates the dish. Common toppings include cheese, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes. However, moms can be sneaky and add other toppings such as jalapenos, avocado, and cilantro for a fresh twist. You can also use different types of cheese such as blue cheese, feta cheese, or goat cheese for a unique taste.
Tip 6: Serve with the right sides
The sides served with the sloppy joes complete the meal and add a balance of flavor and texture. French fries and tater tots are the common sides served with sloppy joes but moms can be sneaky and serve healthier options. You can serve the sloppy joes with baked sweet potato fries, roasted vegetables, or a side salad. Alternatively, you can serve the sloppy joes over zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
Conclusion
Making a sneaky mom's sloppy joes recipe is easy, and the tips mentioned above can help you elevate the meal to a whole new level. Adding hidden vegetables, using the right seasonings, adjusting the texture, adding unique toppings, and serving with the right sides can make a significant difference in the overall taste and health benefits of the meal. Get creative and experiment with different ingredients to create a unique and delicious sloppy joes recipe that works for your family.
