Grilled potatoes are one of the most delicious and healthy side dishes that you can have with your meal. It is also one of the easiest dishes that you can prepare. The perfect grilled potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can have them with any herb or spice that you want, and they will still taste great. In this article, we will provide some valuable tips on how to make a kickin grilled potatoes recipe.

Tip 1: Choosing the Right Potatoes

The first thing that you need to do to make kickin grilled potatoes is to choose the right potatoes. The best potatoes for grilling are the ones that have a low moisture content. The reason for this is that potatoes with high moisture content tend to become mushy when grilled. Some of the potatoes that you can use for grilling include red potatoes, sweet potatoes, and Yukon gold potatoes. These potatoes retain their shape and texture when grilled.

Tip 2: Preparing the Potatoes

Once you have chosen the right potatoes, the next step is to prepare them for grilling. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and then slice them into small pieces. Ensure that you cut them uniformly so that they cook evenly. You can also leave the skin on if you prefer crispy skin. If you want to remove the skin, use a potato peeler to remove it.

Tip 3: Seasoning the Potatoes

The third tip for making kickin grilled potatoes is to season them properly. The seasoning that you use can make a massive difference in the taste of your grilled potatoes. You can use a range of herbs and spices to season the potatoes. Some of the most common herbs and spices that you can use include thyme, rosemary, and basil. You can also add garlic, onions, and peppers to the potatoes for an extra kick of flavor. Coat the potatoes with oil before seasoning them to ensure that the seasoning sticks well.

Tip 4: Pre-heating the Grill

Before you start grilling the potatoes, you must pre-heat the grill. Pre-heating the grill ensures that the potatoes cook evenly and have a crispy texture. To pre-heat the grill, turn it on to high heat for about five to ten minutes. Ensure that the grates are clean before placing the potatoes on the grill.

Tip 5: Ensuring Even Cooking

To ensure that the potatoes cook evenly, ensure that you spread them out on the grill. Avoid overcrowding the potatoes as this can lead to uneven cooking. If you have a small grill, you can cook the potatoes in batches. Use a spatula to flip the potatoes after a few minutes to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked.

Tip 6: Checking for Doneness

The final tip when making kickin grilled potatoes is to check for doneness. The best way to check if the potatoes are done is to poke them with a fork. If the potatoes are soft and tender, they are ready. You can also use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the potatoes. If the internal temperature is 210°F, the potatoes are done.
Conclusion
Grilled potatoes are a great addition to any meal. They are easy to prepare and can be seasoned with a range of herbs and spices. To make kickin grilled potatoes, it is essential to choose the right potatoes, season them properly, and pre-heat the grill. Additionally, ensure that you cook the potatoes evenly and check for doneness before serving. Following these tips will help you make the perfect grilled potatoes every time.
