Cream Cheese Cake image

Need an easy cake recipe? We've found one. This cream cheese cake is buttery and creamy. Iced with a soft and fluffy cream cheese frosting, each bite is scrumptious. Sprinkle your favorite chopped nuts or crumbled shortbread cookies over the top for a pretty decoration.

1 box butter or vanilla cake mix
4 eggs
1 c sour cream
3/4 c oil
CREAM CHEESE LAYER
1 pkg cream cheese, 8 oz
1 large egg
1/3 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
FROSTING
2 pkg cream cheese, 8 oz
1/2 c butter
3 c powdered sugar
3 Tbsp whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together box cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil.
  • 2. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.
  • 3. Pour batter into the pan. Set aside.
  • 4. Mix together cream cheese, egg, and sugar.
  • 5. Then add vanilla.
  • 6. Layer this mixture evenly over the top of the cake batter bringing it almost to the edge of the pan.
  • 7. Bake cake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • 8. Let cool and prepare the frosting.
  • 9. For frosting, cream butter and cream cheese.
  • 10. Add sugar a cup at a time.
  • 11. Then whipping cream and vanilla.
  • 12. Beat until light and fluffy about three minutes.
  • 13. Frost the cake.
  • 14. If making cupcakes, fill cupcake liner about halfway. Put a teaspoon of cream cheese filling in the middle of the batter. Cook at 350 for 20 minutes.
