Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast or thigh meat (cut into strips)
2 cups panko bread crumbs
2 large eggs
salt (, to taste)
black pepper ( to taste)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
vegetable oil for frying

Steps:

  • Cut the chicken into strips. Make sure they are even sized so that they cook evenly. The thicker they are, the longer they will take to cook. Season chicken strips salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Set aside.
  • Put the panko bread crumbs in a bowl. In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth. Dredge chicken cutlets strips in egg, then panko bread crumbs. Press chicken cutlet into the bowl of panko bread crumbs so that they completely coat the chicken cutlet. Repeat this process for all chicken pieces.
  • In large frying pan, heat about 1/4-inch of oil to about 375°F. An instant-read thermometer is great to regulate oil temp. Do not let oil get too hot or else the chicken strips will burn on outside and still be raw on inside. When the oil is hot, add the coated chicken in a single layer.
  • Fry the chicken until golden brown on both sides and until the chicken is fully cooked in the center, about 3-5 minutes, depending on oil temperature and how big the chicken is cut.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dip: ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce or ranch dressing.

Extra-Crispy Fried Chicken Strips image

These extra-crispy fried chicken tender strips are sure to satisfy even your pickiest eater! Enjoy with dipping sauces like honey or honey mustard, or eat them plain!

Provided by Steven McCune

Time 35m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons water
1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast tenders
2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or as needed

Steps:

  • Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix eggs and water together in a small bowl.
  • Place some chicken strips in the flour mixture to coat, then gently shake to remove any excess flour. Coat strips in egg. Return to the flour mixture and coat again; repeat with egg mixture. Coat once more in the flour mixture, placing strips on a plate while you continue with remaining chicken.
  • Let strips sit for 5 minutes to allow flour to set.
  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C); oil is ready if you drop some water in and it sizzles.
  • Working in batches if needed, place strips in the hot oil. Cook for 8 minutes. Turn over and continue to cook until golden brown, no longer pink in the centers, and juices run clear, about 8 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Place strips on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.

Air fried chicken tenders recipe strips are a great way to enjoy delicious chicken without the added fats and oils of traditional fried chicken. Not only are they a healthier option, but they are also quick and easy to make. If you’re new to air frying or want to improve your current recipe, here are some valuable tips to help you make the best air fried chicken tenders. 1. Selecting the Chicken Tenders: When it comes to selecting chicken tenders for your recipe, it is important to choose tenderloins instead of breasts. Tenderloins are smaller and more tender, which makes them perfect for air frying. They also cook faster, and their size is perfect for creating crispy, juicy chicken strips. 2. Prepping the Chicken: Before cooking your chicken tenders, it is essential to prep them adequately. Ensure that the chicken is thawed completely, and pat them dry with paper towels. Next, you can season the chicken using your preferred seasoning, such as pepper, salt, paprika powder, or garlic powder. Marinating the chicken in buttermilk or yogurt overnight can also add extra flavor and make them more tender. 3. Coating the Chicken: Coating the chicken is vital in creating crispy chicken tenders. To do this, mix together flour and your favorite seasoning, and dip the chicken in the mixture. You can also use seasoned breadcrumbs or panko crumbs for added crunch. The coating should be light enough to let the chicken cook fully but enough to give it the desired crunch. 4. Preheating the Air Fryer: Preheating your air fryer before cooking is essential to achieve the desired crispiness. Most air fryers have a preheat setting that takes a few minutes to heat up. If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat setting, set it to the desired temperature and allow it to heat up for a few minutes before adding the chicken. 5. Preparing the Basket: Once preheated, add the coated chicken tenders to the air fryer basket. Ensure that the chicken is spread evenly and doesn't overlap. Overlapping can cause the chicken to cook unevenly, decreasing the crispiness of the chicken. 6. Cooking Time and Temperature: The cooking time and temperature for air fried chicken tenders will depend on your air fryer's model and size, the size of the chicken tenders, and the coating thickness. However, a general guideline is to cook the chicken at 375°F for 10-15 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway to ensure even cooking. 7. Using Cooking Spray: Spraying the chicken tender strips with cooking spray before air frying can help achieve crispier results. You can use a cooking spray that has a neutral flavor, such as avocado oil or canola oil. Ensure that you don’t use too much as an excess of oil could spoil the texture and taste of the chicken. 8. Avoid Overcrowding: It's important to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Overcrowding causes the chicken to sweat and lose crispiness. It may also lead to uneven cooking, which is often the cause of the chicken being overcooked in some parts and undercooked in others. 9. Resting the Chicken: After your chicken is ready, remove it from the air fryer, and let it rest for a few minutes. Resting allows the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken. It also helps the chicken to cool slightly, making it easier to handle. 10. Store in Air-Tight Containers: If you don’t finish the chicken tenders, allow it to cool off completely, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer. Storing them in airtight containers helps to preserve the chicken's crispiness, making them perfect for reheating in the air fryer. Conclusion: Air fried chicken tenders recipe strips are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional fried chicken. Following these tips will help you achieve the perfect crispiness and juiciness that will leave your taste buds satisfied. Remember to select the right chicken, prep it adequately, coat it carefully, avoid overcrowding, and preheat your air fryer. With these tips, you'll have the best air fried chicken tender strips every time.
